Dutch writer and researcher Ate van Delden has produced a superbly-researched article on New Orleans trumpeter Albert "Abbie" Brunies, in particular his leadership of the celebrated Halfway House Orchestra, that recorded several classic sides for Columbia and OKeh between 1925 and 1928. His article includes several previously-unpublished photographs and we're pleased to present a selection of them here. The latest issue also has some great auction lists, so why not subscribe and see what you're missing?

The latest 'hard copy' of VJM's Jazz and Blues Mart contains even more in-depth writing by acknowledged experts in their field and several more are to be found on the Articles archive page of the website.
